Smallgoods specializes in American farmstead cheeses, cured meats, sliced deli meats and gourmet American products sourced from our country's best and often rarest producers. We are a Cheese Shop, Deli, Coffee Shop, Cafe and Caterer that is focussed on American-made products. We produce delicious charcuterie platters, sandwiches and more.

Our Southern California business started in the La Jolla Open Aire Market in the Fall of 2015, by American Cheese Society Certified Cheese Professional®, Jenny, and her husband, Mike. In February of 2023, we opened our flagship Cheese Shop & Cafe in our home town of La Jolla, CA. Just 4 weeks later and COVID is upon us. Only 40% of food establishments have remained open during the pandemic. We are proud to say that we are one of them. With no Federal, State or Local government assistance, we fight daily to provide for our community and keep our business going.

New cheese alert! From Minnesota, it’s Shepherd’s Hope, by Shepherd’s Way. She’s a unique mild, fresh sheep milk cheese with a gentle citrus note at the finish. Shepherd’s Hope is a chef and retail favorite. Unlike any other fresh sheep milk cheese, it has a shelf life of eight to ten weeks after production. Shepherd’s Hope is exceptional with a crisp Chardonnay and a fresh baguette or in a tomato basil salad, and was recently featured by food writer, Janet Fletcher. Janet has a great blog.
